Gain Links Slowly and You Will Rise!
Is there a secret recipe for dominating the search enines?
It seems like being number one in Google is literally the one million dollar question. It is understandable why a top ranking is so desirable. Studies show that it is not enough to just be on the first page of the search results. The number one listing will get approximately per cent of the clicks while number two only gets around 8 per cent. This means that the number one ranking site will get more than twice the traffic than number two.
Yes, it does make a huge difference if you are number one or number two.
Products such as Google Annihilation have been promising to achieve the goal of getting your site to number 1 and get you insane amounts of traffic.
The question is: Can these products keep their promises? Is it really so easy to dominate the search engines so you just have to launch a piece of software and traffic will start to flow?
The answer is yes and no. The way these products work is they build links. Links are what is most relevant for how well you rank for a certain keyword. So what these link building tools do is building links to the website you want to rank for using the exact keywords as an anchor text. This is basically a vote for this page with respect to that keyword.
It is possible to get up in the top rankings pretty fast, but the problem is staying there. If a site gets 500 links within 2 weeks then Google will rank it – because popular sites get many links very fast. But Google also sets its expectations higher. They figure if you get that many links so fast you should continue to get many links in the future. Sounds logical right? If you stop getting new links then Google assumes your site just isn’t that popular any more.
So no matter how many links you want to buid make sure you keep getting new links to maintain your rankings.
